Cupping and Gua Sha Applications for Massage Therapists

This course covers all necessary aspects of cosmetic cupping and Gua Sha treatment, safety, theory, application, indications, outcomes and contraindications. There will be a theory, demonstration and practical components where participants will perform cupping on one another to refine proper technique and knowledge.

  • Foundations of cupping & Gua Sha – History, use, functions, purposes, types of cupping
  • Basic TCM theories, Basic Five Element theory, Origins and history - specific acu-points for cupping, location and uses
  • Proper sanitation/ care of tools and location site for maintaining clean/safe technique
  • Suction style cupping application, procedure, recommended time and strength
  • Application of stationary cupping & cupping massage/ moving cupping
  • Client evaluation, Applications for Cupping and Gua Sha
  • Myofacial Trigger Point cupping application (every muscle except Abdominal muscles)
  • Specific acupuncture points for cupping, Treatments for particular conditions
  • Indications for cupping & cupping massage, Treating Children and elderly
  • Contraindications and practicing safely

Theory, demonstration & practical components covered. All participants will perform practice & refine proper technique & knowledge ~ 2 sets of cups & Gua Sha tool in supply kit

  • $195 per person each class/per day; Registration & payment received ten days prior to the start of first class.
  • 8 CEs for LMTs
  • Late registration fee afterward, if space allows = $215
  • A supply kit fee of $65 for each class is due to the instructor from the student at the start of class.
  • Class for both Cupping Classes (2 days) is $375 if pre-registered with full payment 10 days prior to class start date, for a total of 16 CEs.
