BOOKING POLICIES

  • To reserve your appointment with either our Student Therapists or Licensed Therapists, you will be required to pay for your session in full at the time of booking.   If paying via gift card (plastic card issued onsite or pre-purchased via Massage Book), card or certificate number must be present at time of booking for prepayment. 
  • Cancellations must be received at least 24 hours prior to your scheduled appointment time or your payment will be forfeit. We are unable to honor any exceptions or issue refunds for cancellations made within the 24-hour period. 
  • Cancellations outside of the 24 hour window will be issued a refund or a store credit. 
  • If you do not show up for your appointment without a cancellation, your credit card will be charged and no store credit will be issued. 
  •  LATE ARRIVALSYour time is reserved specifically for you. Arriving late will deprive you of precious massage time - you will not be able to extend your appointment beyond its original scheduled time.
  • By booking your appointment with one of our therapists, you agree to abide by the Institute’s  Policies.

We are uniquely Certified in Cancer & Mastectomy Massage, as well as Manual Lymphatic Drainage and Ashiatsu. We offer Neuromuscular, Trigger Point Therapy, Myofascial Release, Deep Tissue Massage, Thai Massage and many medical treatments.

Therapeutic Massage

We offer true medical massage sessions, often starting with the most common type of massage, Swedish. Your therapist will offer specific follow-up recommendations, provide a targeted plan for treatment, along with recommendations for a series of visits versus a periodic spa visit.

Cupping Massage

People enjoy cupping for many purposes, including to help with pain, inflammation, blood flow, relaxation, and as a type of deep-tissue massage. 30 minutes of cupping is equivalent to 60 minutes of deep tissue work. It's also very popular, thanks to its efficiency with athletes such as Michael Phelps.

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep tissue massage is a massage modality (different than deep pressure) that’s used to treat musculoskeletal issues, such as strains and sports injuries. It involves applying sustained pressure using slow, deep strokes to target the inner layers of your muscles and connective tissues.

Hot Stone Massage

Warmed Basalt Stones are used to enhance the benefits of a thera-peutic massage. The heat of the stones is absorbed by the muscles and melts stress away. Hot stone helps relieve muscle tension and pain, reduces stress and anxiety and promotes sleep. Hot stone massage may also relieve widespread, chronic painful conditions such as fibromyalgia.

Foot Reflexology

Reflexology is a type of bodywork treatment that involves applying different amounts of pressure to the feet, hands, and ears. It's based on a theory that these body parts are connected to certain organs and body systems.

Stretching

The accumulation of physical stress can cause muscles to become tight and sore. Compression on the joints can lead to dysfunction and pain. Even being sedentary can cause muscles to contract. Immobility slows the blood flow to the muscles, causing cramps. Stretching sessions help relax the muscles and improve circulation.

Ashi-Thai Massage

Ashi-Thai is an expression of traditional Thai stretches that have been modified using the overhead ashiatsu bar system. The combination of techniques has been arranged following traditional Thai energy lines and stretches for elongating and relieving tightness in commonly used muscle groups.  Ashi Thai is a bodywork treatment style that allows the client to be fully clothed much like in a traditional Thai massage.

Ashiatsu

In the Japanese language “Ashi” translates to foot and “Atsu” means pressure. Ashiatsu is a barefoot bodywork technique in which the therapist delivers deep, broad, consistent pressure while utilizing their feet and body weight. Parallel bars are used above the massage table for balance, support and client/therapist safety.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage

Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) is a type of gentle "hands-on technique" which encourages the natural flow of the lymph fluid through the body, reducing swelling and promoting healing. MLD is now recognized as a primary tool in Lymphedema management and is only performed at Body in Mind by certified MLD Therapists.

We offer MLD for pre- and post-operations including but not limited to post join replacement surgery, post cosmetic surgery (liposuction, tummy tucks, breast lifts, post mastectomy etc.), cancer surgery recovery, lymphedema, general swelling, and overall wellness and immune boosting benefits.

New MLD clients are required to book a 90 minute consultation, which includes a thorough health intake and treatment.
