Massage School Student Clinics

Discover the healing benefits of our Student Clinics!

Student Clinics feature services offered by our massage therapy students as part of their hands-on training requirements. Your voluntary feedback will help better their personal development in this amazing field.

Student Clinic Internship (100 Hours)

Students begin to practice their evolving massage therapy skills in our in-house, supervised, Student Clinic during the second month of the program, after they have learned a one-hour, full-body Swedish massage treatment protocol.

Students learn to take a health assessment as well as greet and interact with clientele. The exposure in the clinic prepares the student to work with the public confidently.

During this portion of our program, students are supervised and closely guided by teaching team staff members, who are licensed massage therapists in the State of New Jersey.

Our supervised student clinic provides students the opportunity to gain experience, incorporating what is learned in the classroom while practicing their evolving massage skills.

What will I experience as a client?

We take great pride in training our students to provide nearly professional-level massage therapy. As the students progress in their education, you’ll be able to experience the healing benefits of deep tissue, hot or cold stone, pre-natal massage, stretching, aromatherapy and cupping.

We run our student clinics just as any wellness clinic or spa handles their day-to-day operations, with private treatment rooms, bona fide bookings, and even an online booking system.

After your session, we’ll ask you to fill out a voluntary feedback form. Your voluntary feedback will help better their personal development in this amazing field.

Types of Student Massages

Hot Stone

Hot stone massage involves the use of smooth, heated stones placed on specific points on your body. The localized heat and weight of the stones warm and relax muscles, allowing the massage therapist to apply deeper pressure to those areas without causing discomfort.
Add $10 to your 60- or 90-minute student clinic massage.

Cold Stone

Cold Stone can be a powerful decongestant and push blood, fluid, and wastes out of overworked or inflamed tissues. These benefits make this type of massage particularly beneficial for relieving swelling and inflammation resulting from sports injury, scar tissue, or trauma.
Add $10 to your 60- or 90-minute student clinic massage.

Spa Treatments

You can enjoy the benefits of aromatherapy, sugar foot scrubs, neck wraps, and peppermint scalp treatments.
Add $5 to your 60- or 90-minute student clinic massage.

Prenatal Massage

Massage therapy during pregnancy is a wonderful complementary choice for prenatal care. It’s a healthy way to reduce stress and promote overall wellness to relieve many normal discomforts experienced during pregnancy. In addition, prenatal massage reduces stress on weight-bearing joints, encourages blood and lymph circulation, helps relax nervous tension and can help relieve depression or anxiety caused by hormonal changes. PLEASE NOTE: Prenatal clients are contraindicated for additional services.

No additional charge.

Foot Reflexology

Reflexology is a type of massage that involves applying different amounts of pressure to the feet, hands, and ears. It’s based on a theory that these body parts are connected to certain organs and body systems. Reflexology is linked to many potential benefits, including reduced stress and anxiety, reduced pain, improved general well-being.
Add $5 to your 60- or 90-minute student clinic massage.

Interested in a special modality? Remember to indicate your preference upon booking your appointment as we may be unable to alter your appointment when you arrive at the Institute.

Student Clinic Policies for Clients

As a learning Institute, our students are required to work with as many different clients as possible during their student clinic experience. They are all well-trained and professional. Because our student clinics are so popular and are regarded as if the clinic was a professional program, there are certain things to bear in mind:

REQUESTS FOR SPECIFIC STUDENTS

We recognize that clients may want to request the same student for their next visit - however, we discourage clients from becoming attached to any one student.

On one hand, we believe it is a good experience for students to see a client more than once so, as their professional palpation skills develop and evolve, they can feel the difference in the quality of the client’s tissue. They will also see how their professional-level massage skills may be helping that client get to wellness and then maintain their wellness.

On the other hand, student clinics are designed to give students ample opportunities to work with as broad a variety of clients as possible. Therefore, working with different clients more frequently helps them fine tune their skills more effectively.

We recognize and attempt to accommodate clients’ requests for a particular student, however we cannot ever guarantee clients will be receiving their service from that student at that future scheduled visit, even if it was scheduled that way at an earlier date. Sometimes Students schedules change, as most are also working elsewhere while attending our program, and some have families, and all have lives outside of our program that we attempt to the best of our ability to work around.

ADJUSTING YOUR APPOINTMENT

We run a busy Institute and sometimes do not have time to call clients in advance to advise that their scheduled future appointment is being rescheduled to a different student. Or perhaps the student does not have mastery over a particular modality you were hoping to experience. For that we apologize. We can assure you that the student you receive your service from will be just as professional, compassionate and well-trained as the therapist that you may have requested.

If we must change student therapists, clients receive an email notification of the change, and have the option of calling us to find out the reason for the change. However, that does not guarantee you will receive the service from the originally requested student therapist. We ask you to trust all our students are excellent.

ZERO TOLERANCE FOR INAPPROPRIATE BEHAVIOR

Just like at any other professional spa or clinic, clients should not ask therapists for their personal cell phone numbers, nor their email addresses, where they plan to work upon licensing, nor to come to their home to provide massage services. These all violate our Code of Ethics and are outside the rules and regulations that govern our profession. We ask the Students to abide by and uphold the Code of Ethics and we ask that clients also honor the Institute’s Policies on Student Interactions.

The Institute has a zero-tolerance policy for overstepping boundaries with students in any way, including becoming too attached or too comfortable where sexual innuendo and joking may be misconstrued as sexual misconduct which is totally illegal in our profession.

HEALTH INTAKE FORMS ARE MANDATORY

Clients must fully complete the Client Intake Forms which include personal contact information, health history, an understanding of Covid-19 policies under State guidelines and an understanding of the Institute’s Policies, governed by law, which include zero tolerance for any type of sexual impropriety whatsoever.

TRUST OUR PROGRAM

We run our Student Clinic the same as a professional spa or clinic, at half the cost (or less) of services at professional clinics and spas. It is easy for clients to make assumptions as if they are receiving services at a high-end facility where their requests should be validated. We ask you to trust the process here in our clinic and know that everything we do has a reason and purpose, with our mission to help train the best massage therapists in the industry.

We ask clients to honor the Institute’s Policies and assure you the best Student Massage Therapist Experience in the State of New Jersey.
