Ethics for Massage & Bodywork Therapists

Toms River Campus:
2026:
• November 28 • 9am-11am (NJ LICENSE RENEWAL BUNDLE ELIGIBLE)

Presented by Nicole Davis, LMT

Ethics are standards of morally right and wrong behavior, setting the tone for appropriate policies and procedures for our profession, ensuring clients best interests are upheld in our client-centered practices. Our best practices and standards evolve as our profession evolves. Our industry’s governing bodies’ Codes of Ethics set our professional standards. In this class we’ll explore those and their application in our daily work treating clients. You will be equipped with current knowledge and know the highest, most current standards of ethical behavior.

This ethics-focused course explores common boundary challenges massage therapists face and provides actionable tools for maintaining professionalism. Strengthen your understanding of ethical guidelines, improve communication around boundaries, and ensure a safe, respectful environment for both clients and therapists.

The State of New Jersey, (N.J.S.A. 45:11-53 et seq., and Chapter 37A,) requires massage and bodywork professionals to take two hours of training in ethics and one hour in the law every biennial license renewal period. Ethics and the law are subjects not only therapists should know, but spa and clinic owners and managers should know also. This class is open to anyone involved in our profession.

What Participants Say

The instructor found a very engaging way to teach a traditionally foundational topic. I felt really engaged learning applicable ways ethical foundations may show up in practice.

Priscilla Fleming LMT

The most valuable part of learning was the 4 core principles and the 7 boundaries. The class is well organized, communicated efficiently, friendly & informative teacher.
